Fantastic bit o’ history, we a’ ken the castle but noo there’s a wee bit mair meat on the bone ti’ the story. Weel done Jill in bringing the story ti’ light. Mony thanks ti’ Allan Hay as weel for sic a comprehensive bit’ o research. Anither good source o’ contemporary views fae the time is Boswell and Johnson’s tour o’ Scotland , far they actually bid in the castle and Boswell describes his room owerlooking the sea, but couldna stand the pillows that were stuffed wi’ sea fowl feathers! Thanks again Jill and Gordon for bringing this wee gem to oor attention.
